Replays: creative thinking or cheating - Opinions Spoiler

Replaying but since i now that one of the trainers is a quest terminator, Darius killer, this time thru i've ignored following up on the Darius quest.

Was forced to pick up letter and read or can not leave the house area, but I've not inquired about him at the Inn. My plan is to get into the sewers meet the trainer with no knowledge that he is GOING to later kill Darius and obtain the training. Once that is accomplished return to Willow so the Darius must Die plot is advanced and then go back to Port K and deal with the assassin.

Figuring as long as i don't open the door Darius is still alive. Sure it makes the start a bit more difficult as you can not start one or two of the more simple quests for startup xp. But, the pay off should be that I get bot training and the assassin quest completed. Of course those dastardly developers could make the assassin disappear after the long wait.


SO am i cheating by taking advantage of information acquired outside this game?

Hmm. Good thought. I don't think it will work, though. You know how one of Darus's initial dialogue options is along the lines of "whoops, I'm an adventurer, was just leaving"? I believe that's the ONLY dialogue option if you didn't pick up the quest to find Darus's assassin, so you can't get training OR the quest XP.

no i've not been to his room at the inn, all i know about him is the letter saying come see me.

I believe it won't work because IIRC the trainer only trains you after you had the dialogue with him about being the murderer.

Yes. He makes a deal with you that he'll train you for his regular fee in exchange for not having to bloody his knives.

If you haven't picked up the soulpiercing arrow and have it with you, then Zeblin treats you as a regular adventurer. No training for you.

yes if darus is alive all you get is go away i won't kill you, no interaction for training. at least the trip back after darus is dead with the arrow will/should be uneventful since the place is totally looted and all the flunkies dead already.

oh well. guess it proves trying to cheat doesn't win.
