lavafields stuck spider

well, i'm killing off the fire spilling spiders near a path which goes north into the lava fields and one of the spiders seems to have become my mate, transfixed he don't move does'nt attack and i can't destroy him either so quest failure? or something wrong wid de game?

Sometimes monsters seem to stick for a while. It's a weird glitch. He'll probably start flinging flaming spit at you again soon. The quest, by the way, is not to kill all of the spiders, but to destroy the nest. You'll find that up among the rocks, and you'll need to take a couple hot steps to get there.

Save your game. Exit to main menu, then reload. The spider wil hate you again.

Enemies that have a ranged attack occasionally "freeze"...still haven't figured out why. But, this frozen state is reset when you save and reload, or even if you leave the map and return.

problem solved as you said left game, came my' friendly spider' attacked, thanks for the advice about getting hot feet, am going to try

Just remember that Greater Protection potions and Element Armor protect you, but not your shoes and pants.
