hammerlorne level 1 i suppose?
got the security key..... reached gates after long hallway, can't access further, what have i missed.

i've heard the side door so many times in my posts, thankyou guess i've got myself a minor quest find the side door, why not the 'back door'?

It's the Maintenance Entrance, I believe, if you want to be specific. Just follow the mountains until you find another door.

i entered the maintenance entrance i believe, killed load of dwarves, and don't know where to go from here , but have retrieved a security key, the maintenance entrance is in the rocks to the left of the main entrance to hammerlorne i presume? or am i some where else?

Actually, it sounds like you're already in the mine. You can reach the main gates from both sides, but can't open them from either.
If you're trying to get to level 2, look for a portal.
If you're trying to get to level 2, look for a portal.

In the middle of the maintenance level you will find three levers next to a triple gate. Flip any or all of the levers, go through to the teleporters. Note the sign; it is a one-way trip from there. You'll have to fight your way through three levels to get to the exit portal once you step on the teleporter, so if you're already heavy with stuff, you may want to store it somewhere or go sell a bunch off.
