Help remembering an RPG name?

This was probably in the mid to late 90's

The basic game was free but you could other episodes for 5 or 6 dollars......One of the first places you went was a hall leading to a library...




This game was an indie game and it was quite complicated...Dying a lot.......

Maybe a few more clues would be helpful. Single player or party? Turn based? What kind of world - medieval or other? Magic or not?

no party.....1rst episode got me stuck..lots of dying......adding attributes to your character was really complicated

This really isn't enough to go on. Hundreds of games fit your description and we have no idea what you mean by "complicated".
