Are there any 'class differences'? (New Player)

(New Player)
I went back a few pages here and looked at the manual... did some of my own experimenting.

Are there any class differences as far as hitpoints or mana gained -- or access to the higher level skills?

I've restarted a few times trying to get a groove but I can't really see a difference other than 'free skill'.

We worked to keep Book I a system that does not limit players based on their chosen Class. As you discovered, you get a free skill based on your Class choice, and a title based on your Class + Axiom choice which can help you "role play" your character along your declared ideology. So, if you want to play a friendly rogue who also specializes in alchemy, you can do that.

We have additional Class-specific gameplay elements in Book II that will allow players to more fully utilize their character's chosen profession, but really the Eschalon series will always be a more "skill dominated" game than a "class limited" game.

The major difference is that fighter type classes gain more health for their enduracne and spellcasting classes gain more mana for increased perception. Other than that you can mix and match whatever skills and fighting style is easiest for you.

Oh yes, you are right Randomizer. That would be another class-specific feature. Thank you for adding that!
