about the dungeon in the start *minor spoiler*

Post by kersed »

What is the suggested level to take out the ghosts/skeletons below the dam?
I tried on my level 11 rogueish char but she just got annihilated but the ghouls.

First time posting by the way, Greetings!

Right now im playing a mage, she has 40 perception and working on getting int and wis to 25 (they are both 15 atm, got great starter stats (14/14/14 wis, int, per). She defitinivly needs more mana and hp to survive down there, but I really want to explore that place!

Depending on your build, a level 11 character should be able to get through. It just takes a lot of careful tactics (one of those being RUN AWAY! when necessary). Mages have it a bit easier. If you keep Predator Sight on you won't be shocked by the appearance of enemies. Also, combining Cat's Eyes with other forms of light generation has a major effect on visibility. Grouping enemies and using Compress Atmosphere on them is good, as they can't resist the damage.

You might put off pumping Intelligence and Wisdom beyond 15 for a little while. There are a variety of items that increase those stats, and even if you don't want to wear them all the time, you can put them on, learn a spell, then take them off again. You can get to 20 and learn second-tier spells this way pretty easily.

Of course you're going to want to raise them a bit eventually to learn third-tier spells, but pumping Perception for better MP regeneration earlier will probably make things easier.

Also you will burn through mana killing them, so retreat often out of the area to rest and recharge. The tough fight at the end will usually need mana potions or some other clever tactic.

thanks for all the replies, what kind of perception stat should I aim for?
Should I boost endurance aswell for the off-times when the enemy actually reaches me before he/she is destroyed by my spells.

Are you a pure Mage, or do you have a weapon as well?

You'll eventually want a very high Perception - 70 gets you 5 MP per turn, which is very, very helpful. See http://eschalon.wikia.com/wiki/Meditation#Meditation

I wouldn't put any points into Endurance. It's simply not as helpful for your build as Perception (or possibly Intelligence/Wisdom if you need to learn better spells).
