I'm curious where the portraits came from. The art style suggests that they were based on actual people, perhaps taking photographs and embellishing them to give them a fantasy look. Or, were they created from scratch?

A few were created from scratch (using an old version of Poser). The majority are photographs purchased from a stock photo library and then Photoshopped to make them look less like photographs.

Ah hah. That explains why one of the pictures looks a LOT like Ric Flair.
